The All New 2022 Honda Civic

For the 2022 model year, Honda is bringing the all-new 11th-generation Civic to the showroom floor! The new Civic is larger, more fuel-efficient, stiffer, and packed with technology that has never previously been available for Honda’s mass-market compact sedan. The Civic has been the best-selling passenger car in Canada for the past 23 years, for good reason, and the latest iteration may be the best version of the Civic yet.

The 2022 Civic comes in four trim levels with the choice between two four-cylinder engines. For the top-of-the-line Touring models, the Civic will receive a turbocharged 1.5L engine. That engine has 180 horsepower and 177 lb/ft of torque. For the remaining trims, that engine will be the 2.0L naturally-aspirated engine. Both powerplants come with an updated CVT and send power strictly to the front wheels. The CVT may be the best version of a CVT found anywhere in the car industry. The software programs faux gearshifting when the engines are pushed up to the redline, giving the illusion that real cogs are being switched. The system is intelligent, smooth, and is convincing enough to most car buyers that the Civic may have a traditional transmission within its chassis. Besides the excellently tuned transmission, the rest of the Civic driving character is impressive. The steering, brakes, and throttle all require a little bit of heft and precision, but that creates a very rewarding driving experience. Time spent behind the wheel of the new Civic, even in its simplest form, is a pleasure.

The interior design of the new Civic has been simplified over its predecessor. The interior is clean, organized, and has tactility from its buttons and interfaces with the same crispness a consumer would expect out of a premium brand. For the entry-level LX models, the Civic has standard features such as a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, radar-assisted cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, heated front seats, and a partially digital instrument cluster. For the Touring model, the top-spec Civic features a 9-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch full-digital instrument cluster, additional sound-deadening for a quieter drive, and an 11-speaker Bose sound system. The cabin space is accommodatable for six-foot-tall adults in the front seats with lots of space in the footwell, and good visibility all the way around. The exterior design is noticeably different too, as Honda intended to build a Civic that was calmer and cleaner than the outgoing model. In doing so, the Civic looks and feels more mature than ever before.

A car that every buyer will be proud to own, the latest version of the Civic is a step up over its previous iterations. The future hatchback, Si, and Type R models will find their way to the dealerships in the new future. The new 2022 Civic sedan is now available at Calgary Honda’s showroom on Lake Fraser Drive to test out today!
