How many times did you hear the words ‘Support Local’ last year?
Hopefully a lot. This message was raised to motivate the public to continue supporting small businesses throughout 2020’s local economic uncertainty. Friends, family, and neighbours, placed in positions of financial worry with the rise of the pandemic and what seemed like ever-lasting quarantine for the city of Calgary.
It was time for larger corporations and businesses to step up to the plate to ensure the continuation of the Mom and Pop shops we all know and love.
That’s why we wanted to take a step beyond #SupportLocal. Dilawri Group of Companies sought to give back to the YYC community in bigger and bolder ways than before. Check out our video and event timeline below, highlighting our past initiatives from 2020!

In support of the Alberta Children's Hospital and the Salvation Army, MINI Calgary challenged the YYC Community to a Toy Drive contest. Participants borrowed a 2021 MINI Countryman SUV to return with as many gifts and toys as possible within 24 hours. The winner with the most successful toy drive won a weekend in Banff, and WOW, what a success it was! Check out the video of Sales Manager, Carmen Stockton's interview with Global TV Calgary talking about the event.
- Kids Up Front Toy Drive at BMW Gallery
During the 2020 Holiday season, BMW Gallery chose to support and run a toy drive for Kids Up Front Calgary, an organization that distributes tickets to art, culture, and sporting events for kids and their families. The goal was to completely fill the BMW M2 Competition art car with donations for the event, and we did just that!
Thank you to everyone... our friends, families, customers, and staff for your support, donations, and kindness throughout our initiatives in 2020! We are so grateful to be able to change lives and we're excited at the prospect of hosting more local charity events and contests in the future!
Oh! And don't forget to #SupportLocal!
